Enrichment Activities

At New Road we understand the benefit of children participating in activities that extend beyond the classroom and school day.  We work hard to provide a wide range of services to meet the needs of our pupils, their families and our local community. Activities include holiday clubs, after school clubs, information sessions and family learning workshops.

Both play and physical activity are important for children's health and wellbeing and our planned enrichment activities increase the children's opportunities to get involved in sports and engage with new activities. 

After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs can provide convenient and low-cost childcare for parents and carers and also support them in their work commitments. 

School Clubs

At New Road we are proud of the range of extra curricular activities we provide, examples of these are:

Bushcraft, Karate, Multi Sports, Football Club, Glee Club, Craft Club, Reading Club, Recorder Club, French Club, Photography Club, Family Fitness, Gardening Club, Chess Club the list goes  on..............

Gardening Club

We were delighted that our Gardening Club did such a fantastic job of growing vegetables that they became award winners at The Great Yorkshire Show in July 2026.

Karate Club: Sensei Matt

Our Karate Club runs every Tuesday at 3:30pm - 4:30pm and is led by Sensei Matt. Matt is a 5th Dan Black Belt in Karate and has practiced Karate for over 30 years. Matt is very passionate about coaching and helping people achieve their goals and aspirations. Matt has a great belief that everyone should be able to take part in sport regardless of ability or disability.
